Finn's 2nd Month

July 14, 2013
2 months old

Finn has chubbied right up and at his two month check-up weighed in at 11 lbs 2 oz, landing him in the 45th percentile.

Milestones
recording all the firsts

  • Finn's eyes have taken on their color: blue. Just like mommy's.
  • Finn laughed loudly in his sleep. (I wish I knew what was so funny, other than the fact that I was up at 4am bouncing him on my shoulder to sleep.)
  • He celebrated his first Fourth of July and listened and watched the fireworks display contently.
  • He flew in an airplane... already, he's caught the travel bug! (He slept pretty much the whole time--loved the white noise and vibration of the plane)
  • Finn met both sets of Grandparents who love and spoil him.
  • Finn received a sweet blessing from his daddy and grandfathers in the Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York.
  • He is now smiling on demand.
  • Finn chats with us, especially right after he is fed, he seems to have so much to say!

some of Finn's
Favorite Things
  • Going outside--even in the scorching TX summer heat!
  • The hair dryer, the warm air and the sound that comes from it can lull him to sleep.
  • The football hold (or the mute button)-- nothing stops him from crying quite like it.
  • Practically since the day he was born he can hold his head up. He enjoys stretching his neck to look over mommy's shoulder and playing airplane but doesn't enjoy tummy time (maybe because he does push ups and that can be exhausting!).

Not so Favorite Things
  • Last month he seemed to like car rides, this month he can scream and cry pretty loudly when he is buckled into his seat. (Mommy can't handle hearing it so she often pulls over to console him)
  • It's official, he is colicky. Not sure if it is gas, acid reflux or what but this is nobody in the family's favorite thing, that is for sure.

Stories
of the Finn
  • At Finn's two month check-up he received 4 shots. yOUCH! He screamed and cried during and for 5 whole minutes afterwards. Poor little guy does not have a high pain threshold.

Finn likes to sleep best with his hands above his head....

In some serious contemplation...
