Easter 2018

 

  

Easter is my favorite Holiday because of Spring weather, flowers appearing and acknowledging that our Savior LIVES and that because of Him we will live again and can be a family forever.

I also love all the decor that goes along with Easter... flowers, bunnies, chicks, pastels, oh my!

Finn really enjoyed helping me cut branches from a flowering tree behind our house and hanging the eggs on it.

 We made cupcakes with bunny ears and sold them in front of our house.

 

 Finn saw that I purchased this gnome Easter egg kit and wanted to use it right away. I did my best pushing it off but finally gave in, even thought it was mega early. Oh well! They turned out super cute... go big or go gnome!

 

The boys scored oodles of goodies at the Easter egg hunt this year. They always stock the grass with plenty (I mean plenty) of eggs and come home with overflowing baskets. (shh... but the Easter bunny reuses the candy in their Easter baskets). Sweden found one egg and gnawed on it happily.

   

 

  

After the Easter egg hunt we had our friends, the Johansons over for a yummy brunch.

 

This year the Easter bunny filled their baskets with lots of treats, books and gave each of them a camp chair and kites. Looking forward to a windy day so we can go kite flying!

 

 

  

 

  

Easter Sunday this year fell on General Conference. Of course, we watched General Conference but we decided we wanted to get out of our pajamas and make it a special day. So, we got all dressed up, and to the Pearl for brunch at the restaurant, Supper (at Hotel Emma). We had to make reservations weeks in advance since they are famous for their Sunday brunch. We normally don't do this sort of thing on Sunday, but made an excuse this year. Our friends, the Fosters, joined us!

 

 

 

 

Easter this year

This year, i'd say the Easter Egg Hunt was a success. There were no tantrums and Finn ended up with more than just one egg. He did become distracted by the candy inside but ended up coming home with a lot of goodies. Later, as I watched the video recording of Finn gathering Easter Eggs I realized how absolutely annoying I was encouraging him to "get more eggs,""put them in the basket!" and "eat the candy later." Lol! Like it were a race or competition. I think I just didn't want last Easter to repeat itself. He found one egg and when we put it in his basket he stomped his feet and cried. He was perfectly fine with just one egg. This year I wanted him to do it right--not sure why I wanted it so bad… especially since he doesn't' need all those eggs and candy!

Easter morning, Finn was the happiest boy around. He loved his basket full of candy, bubbles, and a toy chick. Fox had finger puppets and easter eggs filled with his favorite snacks.

I put so much time and effort into making sure my boys outfits coordinated. It's just what you do for Easter, right? Of course, Fox grew out of his cute Sperry's and had no shoes to wear. I swear his feet are growing faster than the rest of him! I ended up sewing a bow tie for Finn since I couldn't find one that would match. While I was at it, I decided to sew two more so the boys could coordinate another day as well. They turned out pretty cute. :) 

We decorated Easter Eggs with washi tape. I had never decorated them with tape before but I love it and will do it that way again next year. Finn cracked his egg right off the bat so his is the one with the layers of tape on top of each other so he could repair his crack. 

Easter Celebration

Is it just me, or does having a kid make you so much more festive?  For Easter this year we HAD to have coordinating outfits, an easter basket for a not even one year old, a decorated house and an Easter Feaster with pretty table settings.  

I'm weeks late posting this only because I've been busy cleaning up and catching my breath from all the festivities!

We invited Ben's brother, Spencer's family and our friends the Shaws to dinner after church on Sunday. We ate ham, deviled eggs, carrots, rolls, and strawberry shortcake.
