Make Love, Not War

The Kiss
August 14, 1945

65 years ago today, this picture of an American Sailor kissing a young nurse in white was snapped in Times Square celebrating the END of World War II.

I'd like to think the two are completely in love by the way he is charmingly dipping her and how tightly their lips are locked... BUT apparently these two are strangers! Looking closer at the picture, the kiss is a bit awkward, and maybe a bit forced?

Just goes to show how we should...
"make love, not war."

Now, go kiss your hubby, your boyfriend, your babies, your dog... even if it's random and forced, and celebrate something. :)

"I saw a sailor running along the street grabbing any and every girl in sight. Whether she was a grandmother, stout, thin, old, didn't make a difference. I was running ahead of him with my Leicia looking back over my shoulder but none of the pictures that were possible pleased me. Then suddenly, in a flash, I saw something white being grabbed. I turned around and clicked the moment the sailor kissed the nurse."
